Music Genre Research

It is now important for you to start undertaking your music genre research independently. This will allow you to build background knowledge into your chosen genre and understand the key conventions associated with the genre. I would like to see research presented on your blog with lots of images, well-organised and perhaps on powerpoint or uploaded onto slideshare.

Here are the key areas that I will be expecting you to research:

         The history of the genre.

Key artists in the development of the genre / at the moment (who has the biggest profile?)

Audience / fans – who are they? Demographic?

         Sub genres of the genres.

Public perception of the genre, is it a popular genre with mainstream appeal or more niche? (add any current news articles you can find)

Record labels / key industry figures?

Competition – what are the other magazines covering the genre? How many do they sell each issue? How often do they come out? What sort of features do they contain?

Cross media – what other media covers that genre? TV stations / shows? Radio stations / shows? Websites?

Predictions for the future? How might the genre develop? What direction does it appear to be heading in?

Welcome to Miss DeLuca's Blog

Here you will find all of the information and resources you need to create a successful Media Foundation Production.

There will be regular updates as well as deadlines, any cover work if I am not in lessons and other interesting music magazine related links.
